Kinda silly to look over this, but ARD (public German TV, Channel One) went out and asked some questions over this state report released this morning....then found that the state inspectors for NRW (the northwestern most state of Germany) went to inspect meat and agricultural operations in the region back in May.
Meat industry issues? 1,863 violations (some minor, some significant).
The accommodations which the industry were providing to non-German workers? That got into the report as well.
Mold, unsafe working conditions, roofs which were leaking, unsanitary facilities, mice and rats, and fire hazards.
It's stupid stuff, which you have to wonder if the management just didn't care or just continually looked the other way.
The chatter now? The state is suggesting that the German federal government needs to write rules over the contracts for non-Germans.
The farm operations 'report-card'? A lot better than the meat industry.
Where this is going to lead onto? It wouldn't surprise me if inspections become the norm, and held almost weekly to ensure the companies repair the mess.
Just looking over the sanitation side of this....there's zero chance that I'd go and buy their products and feel safe eating them.
