Public TV's Dilemma

Shortly, the hyped-up nature of the national election (September) will start up, and public TV is supposed to have 'debates'.  In the past, this was rather simple.....with the CDU-CSU Party and the SPD Party amounting to sixty-odd percent of the polling.

They run programs with the SPD Chancellor candidate debating the CDU-CSU candidate.....and the Greens, Linke Party, FDP and AfD were left in a second series of debates.

Well....presently, if you do the numbers....it's the Green Party and CDU-CSU Party that would be invited to big debate, and the SPD who should be in the second series.

Lately, there's been rumors that the public TV folks are going re-arrange the debates....getting the SPD guy into the big-round.

If you gaze at the polling right now....the FDP folks have moved up.....presently being tied with the SPD.  It's possible now that the FDP would be allowed into the big debate, if they can pass the SPD.

Harming the SPD chances?  More than likely.

Would public TV re-write the rules, and allow four candidates on the stage?  Maybe.
