Back in early March of 2021, the German Health Ministry drafted up this idea to have 'free' Covid-19 tests....across the nation. The draft itself? Around 35 pages.
So the 'boys' in accounting estimated up the cost for 2021, and the estimate of the 'free' tests came to around half-a-billion Euro for 2021 (the complete year).
Presently? ARD covered this in the AM today. For April, the cost factor was 142-million Euro. For May, 518-million Euro. You can do the math, but for the remaining seven months will probably cost around 3.5 to 4 billion Euro....meaning the whole year would run up around 4.5 billion Euro (more or less).
The odds that the Bundestag will continue to fund the 'free' testing? No one says much.
The government folks have some rational thoughts that to hang out at restaurants, bars, discos, etc....you need a negative test result. If you were an active guy.....for an entire month....you'd probably have to test at least twelve times....meaning a cost factor of around 200 Euro.....which the government would have to pay.
The only way to pay for this type of program....is to throw more taxes on people in the end, or you just admit that you shouldn't take the test unless you showed some symptoms.
