Five German News Stories

 1.  Top news item this AM...up in the state of North Rhine Westphalia...some 17-year old vocational student stabbed to death his teacher.  In the US, there's probably a hundred assaults/attacks per day on teachers.  Here in Germany, it's just awful rare.

2.  Up in the NW.....at Lutzerath (the coal town)....more police are arriving for the protest situation going on.  Chief reason for the increased numbers of police?  Physical attacks now common, as this protest increases.

3.  The German Foreign Minister (Baerbock, SPD) made a visit by train into the Ukraine yesterday.....getting within 50 km of the Russian border.  Fair amount of risk attached to the visit.

4.  The leadership of the FDP Party yesterday (Tuesday) put a fair amount of pressure on the Health Ministry to go ahead and produce legislation for the legalization of Cannabis/weed.  Already....the Green Party has signaled that this legislation is 'expected'.  Chief issue?  Among medical doctors in Germany....the legalization isn't seen as a positive....same issue reflected at the Ministry.

5.  Polling done on E-cars via N-TV this AM....only one in six Germans are interested enough to buy an E-car as their next vehicle.  Across the spectrum....neither journalists or political 'push' are changing perceptions.
