Lützerath This Afternoon: Demonstration

I've probably watched around forty minutes today of German news from the village of Lützerath.  Lot of activity with awful lot of police in the mix.

First, it's just odd that some protest 'parents' dragged their kids to this situation.  I would guess some were as young as six or seven.  I probably saw at least thirty kids who were definitely juvenile.  Some stood with the parents in the midst of smoke or fireworks being tossed around.

Second, there's definitely stones and rocks being thrown at police....on top of fireworks.  Some of those detained for this activity will face real charges in court......probably more than a couple of months in jail.

Third, the public TV folks gave an enormous presence to the activists to explain their position.  I won't say it was right or wrong, but it seemed like a lot of face-time.

Finally, the cops say their clearance 'job' is now done.....there's no one left in the village and a security fence is now up.
