Five German News Stories

 1.  Last night was Silvester.  Typically, there's x-amount of fireworks fired off at midnight.  I'd say from sundown to midnight.....a fairly significant amount of fireworks was fired in the village, and twice the normal level of rockets were fired.  Even at 2 AM.....there was still rockets being fired around the village.

News folks report one guy in Hamburg had a rocket fired at him....hit and penetrated his leg....exploding there, and later died at the hospital.

2.  The Green Party suggested a new agenda for 2023 coming....where taxation on smokes/alcohol go up.  They also suggested some weird 'control' to sales on alcohol....not say a limit or time-period of sales....but that regulations would arrive this year to cut back use of alcohol.

About the only regulation I can see in being accepted.....perhaps alcohol sales shut down at 9 PM, unless in a pub/bar.  Beyond that, I don't think the public will accept this idea.

Oddly, the Greens are still hyped up to make cannabis/weed legal (has yet to occur).

3.  What Putin said on more reservists?  137,000 more will be 'selected' here in January.

4.  There's a NTV report that suggests the Russian attempt to recruit prison population members....for the army.....is meeting with a new problem.  Apparently a week or two into boot-camp....the former prisoners are 'escaping'.  Yes, on the loose.  There's no significant number reported but it's probably demonstrating this idea wasn't thought through much.

5.  As of this morning....Croatia has adopted the Euro.  The Kuna is no more.
