Erfurt Attack

So around 3 AM on Saturday morning....this event came to occur in Erfurt (about a 90 minute drive NE out of Frankfurt, in what was old DDR).

It's becoming a page one type story and it revolves around three African guys (Ghanaians) who were out and ended tangling up with a dozen German guys.

MDR (regional public TV) covers the bulk of the story, but it's starting to appear in various German news sources.

What started the fight?  No one says.  Two of the Ghana guys were pretty badly hurt, and the cops ended up arresting the dozen German guys....but releasing them by early afternoon on Saturday.

Charges?  No one says much yet.

So this one key detail comes out of the various sources.....Erfurt has a number of far-right-wing groups, and if you really didn't grasp that or figure out the neighborhood you were in (especially at 3 AM).....you'd be at risk.

The mention of 'the Third Way'?  Well, yeah....this got brought up.

This particular group is a curious creation....from the mid-1960s of Germany, which was supposed to take right-wing and left-wing groups....and somehow merging the two into one group, which had a bit of revolutionary behavior to it.  One thing that you always notice about experts who try to explain the Third Way.....it sounds like a group of folks without much work in life and internally searching for a revolution to attach themselves to it.

Adding to this mess.....various political groups are getting hyped up and calling for judicial operations to protect the innocent.
