Current CDU Rumor Mill

If you follow political chats in Germany, over the past month.....they lead to this one curious rumor....that the CDU Party (Merkel's group) could possibly be lined up to appoint the Health Minister (Spahn) as the head of the party apparatus, and the Chancellor candidate for the fall of 2021 will be Bavaria's Premier-President....Soder.

Some believe (at in the rumor mill) that the two have had discussion and this is the direction of the party for the future.

For a number of years, Chancellor Merkel held both positions (Chancellor and party head).  That changed around 18 months ago when she brought AKK to Berlin, and had arranged as the new party head....intending her to take the lead as Chancellor candidate.  That goal basically failed around six months ago, as AKK said enough....she would not be the candidate for Chancellor, and she'd let the position of party head to to someone else by the end of 2020.

The plus-up of the two gentlemen?  They are both well liked and generally seen in a positive light by the public.  Curiously enough, the Covid-19 business actually displayed their talents in a positive manner.
