So, lets define esotericism. You can say it's an event that has occurred, and there is not a clear understanding of the event. So some people flip on a mystery 'hat', and start to ask questions, and believe that lies are being told, with skeptical thoughts about the story being discussed by the news media.
In this commentary, ARD has lumped a number of recent public questions into this category.....like vaccinations for certain diseases being questionable. Or the need for massive bans for the Covid-19 virus. Or the idea of various conspiracy situations being created by the Merkel government.
The aid of social media? Well, you wouldn't have esotericism, unless you had tools like Twitter, Instagram or Facebook to exist.
It's an interesting discussion and draws upon the general nature that public TV news shifted and led the general public since the 1950s to present-day Germany, and how they are now stuck in a competition situation....trying to suggest Germans are being falsely led down a fake-news path or propaganda angle.
In some ways, it's the opposite of the US, where various Americans accuse the established news media of being 'fake news' (like WaPo, NYT, CNN, NPR, etc). This is where the older established German news media is going in the opposite direction.....accusing newer established news sources as the 'fake news' sites.
The more amusing part to this whole discussion? Typically, if you use the word eroticism.....then 'occultists' are part of this, and you are suggesting hidden mystical chatter and unnatural sciences. So the news media figures this label of esotericism slanders the offenders enough, and intellectual won't fall for the gimmick. It's a childish game....which even I will admit, but part of the whole discussion.
