Back in the summer (2021), we had these brilliant government folks who came up and suggested that when it came time for train travel (even for local travel)....they felt that the 3G Covid rules needed to be worked out. Meaning? You were vax'ed, recovered from Covid, or tested (back then, with the 'quickie-free-test').
This idea got discussed and then dumped. No one says much, but I suspect that the Bahn management folks probably asked them 'what the hell are you dumping upon us'.
So I noticed via N-TV news today (Sunday).....the discussion started up again. The Greens? Heavily pressing on this discussion.
So, is the threat of transmission that great on trains? Well....there's no science or data to make that statement.
Who would enforce this? I would imagine that various trains would have four police or more....starting at one end and skipping the ticket audit.....instead asking for a 3G audit.
You start in Wiesbaden and note sixty-odd trains leaving daily....to perform this type of audit, you'd need to have 200-odd police to perform this function. Frankfurt? If you went and counted local, regional and ICE trains....there's probably 300 train trips. It'd turn into a massive mess to audit people like this.
Triggering more people to avoid the railway? More than likely.
If anything here.....all of this should worry from the prospective....any trip on the German rail system might be a Covid infection situation.....so why would I travel at all via the railway?
