This AM, the Premier-President of the German state of Saxony....viewing all the dismal events going on with Covid in Saxony (7-day infection rate at 5,223, which is astronomical).....has decided to press forward with a 'wellenbrecher' (translating over to mean a 'water barrier'). You know...like you have up around Amsterdam or the north coast.
Naturally, you'd stand there and ask....isn't a breakwater basically the same thing as a 'shutdown'? Well....yeah. But in this case.....German leadership can't really utter shutdown anymore without getting half of the population all disturbed and upset.
So what he's suggesting looks and feels like a shutdown....but it's a breakwater? Yeah.
The final details to this strategy? To be laid out in public on Friday in Saxony.
I would offer this observation.....since all the hype of 'herd immunity' is gone at this point.....you really can't talk about shutdowns anymore, and you have to invent various terms or phrases.....which make people think this is a bold new strategy that that you pulled out of your ass.
Can't they just use some term like 'lockdown version 2.0'? No....it's gotta have a different ring to it, and appear slightly different from lockdown version 1.0.
Won't kids start building some comical phrase for Wellenbrecher? You know....like Wellenbrecherbombe (breakwater bomb)....to explain how a water barrier eventually fails. Probably so.
My advice....just stand there and accept it. In October/November of 2022.....another crew will arrive with the next new strategy for a shutdown, and you just need to show a willing nature to follow the 'lead bull' through the pasture.
