Isn't Austria's Mandate That Non-Vax People Stay Home Really a Nation-Wide Shutdown?

Well....yeah, it could be seen that way.

I know that the politicians and journalists are all viewing the 'order' given that would punish the non-vax people in some way, but if you stand back and admire what they've done...it's absolutely a nation-wide shutdown.

Some facts to think upon.....it's around 60-to-62 percent of the Austrian population that is vax'ed up.  For western Europe itself, it's among the bottom three countries.

So, if you gaze at various social media commentary....people share this interesting trend....in Austria, if you were asking where immunization was a big success...it's in Vienna and the more urbanized areas.  In the rest of the country....it's probably closer to only 40 to 50 percent of people who are vax'ed up.

When this mandate was handed down, non-vax people must stay at home, unless they are going to the doctor, work, or getting groceries.  The main theme of this.....they can't go to pubs, bars, or restaurants (basically, no drinking or eating-out).

So these people aren't spending any case at bars or restaurants or clubs. No bowling, no theaters, no golf, etc.  Hurting the economy?  By all means.

Restaurants are standing there in the midst of a terrible economic period for 2020, and likely repeating for 2021.  If you were a bar-owner and thinking things would improve in 2022?  I doubt that you really believe that.

Bands being active for clubs?  Forget about it.

Social lives?  That's just a fantasy.

But, this is the only conceivable exit for politicians to resolve the mess (at least at this point).
