It's a page three type mention, and barely noted in public circles....but the Green Party has now openly said that they want the option of shutdown/lockdown still on the table for any state or to be a tool of the federal government.
The FDP in this group discussion? Lockdown/shutdown has not exactly been a successful tool. Some have even said that if you made this an option....you might have a sixty-day shutdown each and every year. Frankly, that opens up a mess of criticism among Germans.
The lockdown business leads to one central theme....less human contact. You don't drink with your buddies....you don't meet up with your secret affair gal (that the wife doesn't know about)....you don't hang out at the park with your six teenage buddies....you don't play chess in the city park....you don't curse your soccer team at local games....and you don't disco-dance with hot lusty Mannheim ladies.
Will the Greens make this a all-or-nothing demand? Unknown.
Someone might be stupid enough to say a Saturday-Sunday lockdown would be appropriate....meaning you gotta squeeze all of your social life into a Monday-to-Friday routine.
Mentally hurting society more than the Covid threat itself? You might be able to make that case.
