Well....if you are a non-vax German....you have to provide a PCR test (not the standard citizen/quickie test). Figure about 45 to 50 Euro for this test, out of your pocket. Vax-German, you drive on through.
But here's the curious thing. The Germans put a label of 'high-risk' on Austria, so if this was a simple one-hour drive across the border (say for a beer) and you return across to Germany, you either show a vax-slip or show recovered status. Otherwise, you have to do another PCR-test, or do a 10-day self-quarantine in your house/apartment.
So that simple one-hour beer-trip that you made, if non-vax.....is a minimum of a hundred Euro on top of whatever the beer and gas cost.
