Some Bavarian politician uttered the phrase 'Covid Apocalypse' late yesterday. On defining this....on a scale of one to ten.....he probably did a 'two' in explaining this.
To be honest, in the case of Bavaria (as a state)....the hospital ICU units are filling up (close to full capacity in a number of cities). There's no suggestion of a lessening situation. And it's taxing the medical system to provide just regular basic service.
If you asked me to define Covid Apocalypse? Once you hit a position where 10-percent of a city population is infected or quarantined, and ambulances start taking bad-off people to hospitals two hours away from their house....you probably are in the midst of a Apocalypse.
What really generated this type of 'influence'? Well....the vaccination program went well, and you have the odd situation where a vax-guy gets Covid (anyway), and the symptoms are marginally there. So Johann walks around for 3 days with a runny nose/slight fever....passing Covid to twelve additional people, before he gets a test to confirm his situation.
Prior to the immunizations....Johann would have called his doctor with obvious symptoms, and a test would have quickly stopped Johann from spreading his virus around.
Resolving or fixing this mess? Unless you do a complete shutdown, the situation will simply continue on until early spring (April 2022), when warmer weather will corner the virus.
It is kinda funny, with good intentions of saving everyone via the immunizations.....we simply triggered a diabolical twist to the epidemic. The symptoms-lite guy is now the threat.
