Four German News Stories

 1.  The SPD-Green-FDP coalition has agreed on a new building energy law....that lays out a ban on natural gas/oil heating systems.

Start?  1 Jan 2024.

Basic principle?  Whatever new system you install...."must be operated with 65 percent renewable energies."

What happens now?  There's to be a massive (I would suggest monumental) effort going on with heat technicians....probably working 16 hours a day....to get oil and natural gas new systems delivered and installed prior to 1 Jan 2024.

This '65-percent' view?  Its confusing and will lead to lawsuits.

2.  I noted from Hamburg....the 'Last Generation' activists have now gone and said that the local Hamburg police are torturing them....as they remove them from the glue-action.

3.  The CDU political party invited ARD/ZDF public TV folks to come and give a 'talk'.  It was probably ill-advised.

Public TV folks show up....questions come up, and ARD/ZDF go to the position that they don't need to evolve/reform/downsize.  At some point, 18-year old student stands up and asks something to the effect....'weren't they teaching the public also how not to evolve/reform'?

Somewhat comical but they intentionally showed up to defend themselves.

4.  German Minister of Health came out yesterday to say that cannabis-legalization will come shortly....but be in a very moderate form.

Oddly, he says that this would be in a experimental situation....only in certain communities, as a 'start-up'.  Problem here?  Well....EU law is still standing there and a problem.  One might suspect the EU to halt this trend.
