I was out yesterday....visiting the Ramstein BX, and crossing the border to France....going to the Cora store (a French-like Wal-Mart).
So two observations:
First, the BX had around 60 AC units lined up at the door....in the $350 range. In a normal summer, they would have sold fairly quickly. This year, it hasn't been that hot in the central region of Germany.
I looked at the weather for tomorrow....predicted to be a high of 29 C (84 F). Generally, at least for me, that's awful mild for a summer day.
Trouble in selling the AC units? I'll predict in 3 weeks as we approach the end of summer....all of the units will be sitting there and the pricing will drop by 30-percent.
Second, oddly enough in Cora (that French store)....they had tons of summer pools (the 200 to 500 Euro type) that you'd assemble in the backyard. Discounted already at 30 to 50 percent off. Again.....no real summer and the store is stuck with stock.
Summer bathing clothing? Well....yeah, that's also sitting there and not selling that much.
Even walking around the store.....I probably noted at least twenty French folks in October-like clothing.
