Four German New Stories

 1.  Focus had a top article piece today on the Germany economy.  Doom and gloom?  Yeah....by their measure....we've yet to hit bottom on the Germany economic system.

2.  In the state of the Pfalz....the state gov't put into effect some odd bakery law where you can't ask for half-a-loaf (where they would traditionally cut the bread in half).  This is based on some kind of calibration law, where half needs to be absolute.  The fine if you attempted this and failed on 'half'....gets into the 3-digit range.

3.  Some court case in London concluded for a German who was in a environmental-type protest.  Court deemed the German guilty....2 years of prison time, and then to be deported.

4.  Odd weather in central Germany for the week.  Weather guy last night was suggesting 80 liters of rain per square meter between Monday night and Saturday AM.  Total opposite of drought period for April to early July.  I've closed off most windows in the house because of the temperature drop.  At current pace, by the end of August....I suspect my furnace might have to crank up.
