Kandel Sentence Occurs Today

Back at the end of December, I essayed a piece on a murder in Kandel, Germany (SW region).

15-year old girl....stabbed by former boyfriend in a drug-store.....and the ex BF was an Afghan immigrant.

Various chatter in the weeks after suggested that the boy was not 15-years old as he claimed.  Various tests were conducted and the doctors came to agree he was between 17.5 and 20 years old....meaning that they'd process the case with him as a juvenile (as German law dictates for that age group).

Well...today, the case wrapped up.  The Afghan 'kid' will do 8.5 years in prison.  Youth law applied in this case.

What was this mostly about?  From the news groups out there....this girl started up some type of relationship with the Afghan kid.  At some point, the girl (for whatever reason) shared a semi-racy photo of herself (some suggest nude....some suggest something less than nude).  Things came to a head with this relationship and she broke it off.  The boy was upset, and started to suggest that he'd blackmail her to get her back into the relationship.  That apparently didn't work, and he went to the threat business....which ended there in the drug-store with her dead.  The cops?  In the week prior, they were aware of the increasing tension and had some face-to-face encounter scheduled with the Afghan kid, but it was too late.

Creating more of a negative wave?  The court did everything possible to avoid a public spectacle of the sentence.  If the 'kid' had been 21?  He would have gotten the max for an adult of roughly 20 years.

In this case, I go back to statements that I've suggested in the past....that a number of young males who've entered Germany.....simply aren't of the maturity that Germans perceive as 'normal'.  You toss in situations that they've never encountered, booze, drugs, and provocative situations.....then you end up with problems with this.  Finding the same behavior with young females in Germany who've immigrated in?  NO...you simply won't find that problem existing.
