Within the last couple of months, I essayed a piece over the Frankfurt effort to create a suburb out of a farmland plot. This spot is by Sindlingen....far west side of Frankfurt.
Two-thousand residences would have been built.
However, the whole plan appears to be halted, with the discovery of field hamsters noted in the planned 'zone'.
Forty years ago, the city and the crew would have gone full-speed ahead. Today? No.
City planners are basically facing this problem throughout Germany as they try to build out more housing in highly urbanized areas. The regulations are getting to a point where various animal life can halt a construction plan very easily.
