N-TV told the story here in the morning, and it's an interesting piece.
In the past week, in Garmisch, Germany (far to the south)....an fast-paced infection situation occurred, and it tracks back to one single American woman.
In the local area of Garmisch, there's this major US Army-run recreational 'resort' (hotel complex). Evidently, this gal (left out if she is a Army civilian worker, or military member)....had arrived with various symptoms. Rather than isolate herself or just stay in the hotel....she went on a party-like stance, and it's believed that she infected around thirty-odd people (not just in the hotel but apparently in pubs and restaurants).
Only logic given, with the symptoms showing? The woman felt she needed to have 'fun' while staying in Garmisch. Beyond that....nothing. The local authorities are suggesting they expect more infections out of this surge.
Leaving a bad impression upon the local Germans? No doubt, and there's likely to be some four-star general guidance coming out of this in the next week....laying out rough treatment for any US military members violating symptom rules in the future.
