Bus Story

If you ever ride German public transit buses between 7 AM and 8 AM, and returning after 1 PM to your village....you will admit it's a circus-like atmosphere on the buses because of the number of kids onboard.  You could easily have 120 passenger double-bus, with 130-odd people (mostly a mix of adults and kids)....trying to reach either work or school.  Yes, it is absolutely crammed full.  If the ticket audit folks did a headcount....the driver would have to dump a minimum of ten folks off somewhere and wait for the next bus.

In this Covid-19 era, it makes things a bit stressful.

I noticed today that some parents, and school organizations are after the bus folks, and want them (across Hessen) to remedy this by adding more buses.

The odds of this occurring?  You'd have to drag out a couple hundred buses and extra drivers to fulfill the state-wide situation.  More cost?  Absolutely.

The curious thing is that it's always been this way and there's little desire to add more buses.

In my village, between 7 and 8 AM....there are seven buses making the run, when in a normal period....it'd be three.  Adding more?  You'd have to add a minimum of two more buses.  Same for the return period in the afternoon?  Perhaps.

All of this coming down to more expenses and more cost?  Probably so.
