Covid-19 Fine Situation

Yesterday, I told the story of the American military gal who ventured into Garmisch (at the US military resort hotel), and had Covid-19.....passing it around over a day or two while obviously having symptoms.

The resort will be shutting down tomorrow for a period of time (some suggest a week or two).

A lot of frustrations in the city of Garmisch over her behavior....the symptoms should have been enough to self-quarantine (by their thoughts).

Well, if you watch N-TV today, there's chatter from the city leadership and Bavarian state leadership....that a fine should be issued.  State rules and fines?  Basically, the rules are set and the fine would be 2k Euro (roughly $2,400).

Path here?  I'm guessing a judge will assess the situation (local guy), and the US Army will be contacted over the situation.  She won't appear until she's well and out of official quarantine.  At that point, she'll probably show up and ask for some mercy.....they might go for just a thousand Euro.

The key thing here.....they have to make a point.

Under the Status of Forces agreement she should only be subject to UCMJ. Field grade Article 15. Loss of one stripe, loss of 1/2 a months pay for three months and 45 days of extra duty with restriction to base for 90 days. The German court needs to but out. They let the muslins run wild committing assaults and vandalism and do absolutely nothing about it.

Twenty years ago, the SoFA would have been pulled out and used. They would have written up enough punishment to equal the 2k Euro fine business. Restriction to post would have been enough for a couple of months. But lately (past 8 months in Germany), the SoFA seems to be challenged a good bit, and beyond the power of the national authority in Berlin, with individual German states making up their own interpretation. There's a particular event unfolding on an entirely different front (unrelated to Covid-19) which I suspect by spring of 2021, will trigger the removal of all US military units from Germany. The SoFA will be the basic problem.
