Gas Story

N-TV (commercial news) had an interesting update on natural gas this morning, for Germany.

About two months ago, if you paid attention....Putin talked up the idea of fresh new and additional natural deliveries.  This was hype for escalating gas prices.

So time has passed.  What you can say right now....the storage capacity of Russian gas in Germany is now LESS than it was a month ago.  Delivery volumes?  Just not reaching any level of 'more'.

The number given?  The storage facility was at 18-percent.

What could be going on?  Well....the Russians might want approval to operate the new Nord Stream II pipeline....yet to be approved for operation.  My humble guess is that this will continue to be a 'quiet' topic until the fill volume is down to 5-percent in storage, and then some blunt statement by the Germans will be made.

As for the approval business?  It's anyone's guess when this might occur (won't be in 2021, that's for sure).

As for other sources?  The Russians rate for about one-third of the natural gas flow into Germany.  They could possibly go to one of the alternate sources (Norway for example) to bump up some adjustment.
