There's been some talk over what the new Health Minister (Lauterbach) will aim at in the first couple of months. So, here's the basic list....he wants all of the German school systems to mandate masks in the classrooms. He wants mandatory vaccinations. And he wants a plain old-fashioned four-week lock-down.
Can he order any of these? No. The sixteen states hold authority unless the Bundestag goes and creates a new law. I don't think the states want to mess with another lock-down. The mandated vaccinations are possible with the medical profession, but no one is really sure how it'll be sold. As for school mask idea? Muffled-voice syndrome will be a problem, and it'll turn into a joke.
The Christmas markets that remain open right now? Lauterbach has been pretty vocal on this.....he wants all of them to be closed.
Everyone kinda agreed upon a change in the Health Ministry being necessary, and having a 'real' doctor in charge probably would help. But if you add up the 'cost' of getting the nation to December 2021...patience has been dished out in the extreme variety, and people want results. They want an end to the epidemic.
I think Lauterbach has about eight months of 'patting-on-the-back' and once the epidemic goes into a massive fall 2022 position and he goes to his extreme 'fix-it' solutions....the patience will be finished. You can't run the school system in this current methodology, and you certainly can't go and shut down the nation for four to eight weeks each year.
In simple terms, the Covid routine is now a circle, and it will repeat....year after year.
