Germany and Covid: 6 Dec 2021

 1.  According to Focus reporting, the new coalition government is forming up regulations which mandate nurses, medical personnel, ambulance folks, caretakers at rest-homes....to be immunized by 16 March 2022.  The draft of this bill will be discussed next week in the Bundestag.

Numbers here?  None.  At this point, no one has an idea what the 'count' is for retirement-homes, or for any profession.

Creating a giant loss of qualified people?  You just can't go and predict how this would go.  I will state the obvious....there's been a general shortage of qualified nurses going on for several years in Germany (long before Covid came along). Even among ambulance staff folks.....you could have a crisis in the making without enough people to perform the duties.

2.  There was a company Christmas party held up in Norway in the past week.....which was a Omikron virus 'event'.  What Focus says....around 120 company personnel came out of the party....infected.  Apparently, two of the employees had recently been in South Africa.

3.  There's a special 'fund' that has existed to help companies and businesses survive in this Covid downward era, which the SPD-Green-FDP coalition says they will put more money into it for the summer period of 2022.  This 'bucket' of capital?  It's supposed to be upwards to 600 billion Euro.

4.  New infections across Germany in the past 24 hours (up to last night)?  41,500 range.

5.  Total number of Germans who've completed a minimum of one Covid shot?  Around 72-percent.

6.  Focus pointed out a new economic crisis with a shortage of the computer chips for new car, and Covid.  New cars just aren't that plentiful, and used-car prices are escalating at this point.  No one is saying the amount of escalation, but if you look at on-line sites....I'd say the more recently built used cars are probably 10 to 20 percent more than they were a year ago.

7.  There's talk of mass immunization centers being recreated, with a new twist to the 2021 program.....they would now include dentists, pharmacy personnel, and animal veterinarians.  Nurses giving shots?  No....that's been one interesting part of the German program.
