Up in the NW of Germany is the state of NRW. In the past week....things go hyped up on a political position taken by the state government and a new law being drafted up....concerning demonstrations.
I will refer you to the piece written by NDR.....to tell the entire story.
What this gets down to.....is that various demonstrations of the past year or two have occurred (anti-Covid ban demonstrations) and people showed up wearing uniforms or blendings of uniforms.
NRW's state government wrote the state law (it only pertains this one state) and it says more or less.....you aren't supposed to participate in a demonstrate wearing military gear that would suggest violence or intimidation.
Yeah, it's a bit lacking on interpretation.
Soccer fans who should be worried? No....the government says soccer shirts are not violent in nature or intimidating.
So what do they mean? Basically, it sounds like 'brownshirts', or BDU camouflaged pants/jackets.
Could you wear the BDU camouflaged pants or a shirt.....just out walking around....not participating in a demonstration? Yes.
You could even wear a 'Lets Go Brandon' shirt, and that would not violate the regulation.
The minute this is an approved demonstration? Well....you'd have to change clothing or put on a soccer shirt/jacket.
Likely to be challenged in court? I'd it's like a 99-percent chance that it'll be challenged.
I walked into a clothing shop in 2020....to be kinda amused that most of the green BDU camouflaged gear I wore in the 1990s.....was now regular fashion for German teenagers. For a brief moment, I contemplated buying a shirt/pants.....then the German wife said 'no'.....you must remain in traditional garb and not get crazy here.
The odds that the uniform law will be revisited and updated every year or two? Oh, that's very possible.
