Five German News Stories

 1.  The hype with the RBB fired public TV boss?

It seems to be in the top five items and even the public TV folks at ARD/ZDF are covering this to some degree.

Around Berlin, some protest folks have shown up at the RBB public TV building....with a protest slant that it's unfair to pay the TV tax.

The big fear (I think) among the whole public TV empire?  Some political group will go and demand a top to bottom review/audit....triggering massive chaos and others to be forced to exit.

2.  Focus had a piece today about some public pressure coming up over the Cum-ex banking scandal and Chancellor Scholz.  Some are suggesting a raid on his private residence, and attempt to get the personal e-mails he might have over the affair.

Possibility of a raid?  I'd give it very low marks....but it'd be the beginning of the end for the coalition if he picked as a target.

3.  From the ARD public forum TV show....'Hard But Fair' (last night)....it was mostly chatter about the approaching natural gas crisis.

The most serious moment was when the Federal Network Agency 'boss' (he's in charge of the natural gas 'grid')....suggested that there is a serious problem in the commercial industry and the private housing landscape.  He was blunt and put a fairly big warning up for people to grasp.

4.  The Chancellor's trip to Norway yesterday, to chat on natural gas?  Well....it went this way....they could be persuaded to step up and provide more.  BUT, they want long extended contracts....something that Germany isn't that hyped to do.

5.  Sport to be affected by the energy crisis?  Well....via N-TV, it was brought up today about ice hockey.  I'll just say this....they are at a surviving point presently, but if prices escalate....I can see them shutting down the sport.  There's a limit to what people would pay for tickets.
