28 June 2024: Thirteen German News Stories

 1.  Lot of hype locally (Wiesbaden area) over wild boar in the area having swine-fever.  Hunters are mandated not to hunt during this period.

2.  Pharmacies in Hessen (my state) on strike for Thursday/Friday....against gov't mandates.

3. Heat-wave locally (up to 31 C locally) ends Saturday night.  We go back to a 21-to-24 temperature setting for 10 days.

To be honest, I just don't consider 31 C to be that hot (thanks to that 7-year period in Panama/Arizona in my life).

4.  Odd court case unfolding in Berlin....involving McDonalds (the franchise food chain).

So what the news folks say....a transwoman employee wanted to use the women's locker room in the restaurant, and a hired-up Muslim woman employee....said 'no way'.

Management tried to deal with the mess....failing....so they've gone to employee's court, and some judge has to sort through the situation (only two locker rooms).

If the judge sides with the Muslim woman's view?  Well....it might open up a bigger mess where various women stand up and say they won't work in a restaurant where this situation is present.  If transwoman loses?  I suspect she'll go to sue the court and McDonalds  over treatment....moving to a bigger group.

5.  Down in the area where the Tesla factory in Germany is located....expansion into a woods is going on.  Well....they found a WW II bomb....so a shutdown has occurred while they try to remove it.  Oddly enough....nothing can occur with the bomb until they clear the protest anti-Tesla crowd out of the woods.  They show remarkable courage....not wanting to leave.

6.  Starting 1 July....NON-Profit Cannabis clubs are legal in Germany.  The club can grow the weed, and sell the weed, without a tax situation.  I should add...the consumer/customers....have to members of the club.

7.  Starting in July....all plastic bottles will have lids which are attached (non-removable).  The idea is....the loose caps won't end up in the trash.

I'll just say where I've already bought the test caps already, and YES....they can be ripped off and removed.

Of the top ten stupid mandates put upon people in Germany.....I rate this in the top ten.

8.  Starting next week....each Bundestag member gets a pay-raise.  New monthly amount?  11,227  Euro.

9.  Heat/stress warning given yesterday for Wiesbaden.....at 31 C.

10.  Another assault/murder case.  This in Bad Oeynhausen (NRW state).  What the police say....20-year old German guy got into an argument with a 18-year old Syrian (migrated in 2016).  Attacker known to the police?  Well....yeah, this came up via WELT....saying a record for property/drug crimes existed.

This attack involved a couple of individuals on Sunday evening at the local spa gardens park in the town.  The 20-year old was beaten severely....having severe brain injuries.

What started this dispute?  Police haven't said yet.....just that a group of ten were attacking two Germans.

Likely charge?  Manslaughter as a minimum.

The problem is that 95-percent of migrants (100-percent of females)....aren't doing stupid behavior to threaten anyone.  You end up with a group primarily made up of younger guys (ages 15-25) that get into stupid situations.

11.  There's a EU sanction on selling cars to Russian dealers.  N-TV item from yesterday....cops are onto a Pflaz 'dealer' who has sold 190 luxury cars that ended up in Russia.  They say around 4.5-million Euro in 'cash' was taken from a raid of the dealer.

12. Some kind of chatter that Amazon is peeved over the success of Temu (the Chinese version of Amazon).  The company (Amazon) says they want to create a new version of Amazon to sell cheap Chinse-made clothing....with some kind of quick import window.

13.  Denmark brings a 100 Euro tax up (per cow) because of perceived C02 damage (per year).
