N-TV had a piece last night (Wed) that concerned the ISIS 'war' in Syria/Iraq.
So for those who didn't know....a pretty fair number (minimum of 1,000) of Germans (of Islamic background mostly) ran off to the war. You can make the excuse of propaganda working, or just seeking an adventure in life.
As this started to unfold....the federal government of Germany decided that they'd make a law that says participation in a civil war....then trying to return to Germany, would get you prison time. They figured that would stop the exodus.
There's nothing to indicate the fed law on jail-time for civil war participation worked. In fact, a number of individuals quickly got fed up with the civil war (some within days), and found various ways to get back to Germany.....accepting the jail-time as part of the mess they'd wandered into.
So what N-TV brings up is that around 250-odd women are in this mix....still alive today, and held in captivity.
The German government is making some effort to take them off the Kurdish hands, and bring them back into Germany. Jail-time/prosecution? Almost guaranteed.
The latest episode? This week....8 of the women with their kids....flown out and arriving back in Germany.
Concern? No one says much....I'm guessing that six to twelve months in some jail/rehab type situation will re-orientate the ladies and most will appreciate the second chance in life.
