The general secretary of the CDU Party (Merkel's group) came out today and said that the executive council (the 40-to-50 folks who are the top level of the CDU)....ought to all be re-elected to the council.
I noticed this story on N-TV this afternoon.
Paul Ziemiak is the guy who made this statement.
His logic? There seems to be some feeling that the group still wants to pursue a Merkel-like vision....not to twist this into a total renewal of the party.
The general problem? Some folks have looked at the council, and noted most all of them are age 50 or over....with only a few females. There's some suggestion that the council needs a total make-over.....bringing in some younger members (say in their 30s), and pursue a new vision.
