Here in Germany, we have a supermarket chain called REWE.
In recent days, they've announced a new trend. They spent the money to outfit a train-car or two.....creating a grocery situation onboard a regional (Hessen) train. Centered? Mostly around the cities of Frankfurt, Fulda, Kassel, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden and Giessen.
It's filled with stock early in the AM.
Success or failure? Unknown, and it may take a full year to assess how this goes. Personally, I could see some folks leaving Frankfurt at 5 PM, picking up five or six items for the evening. Maybe the breakfast options would make sense as well. But the cost factor? This can't be cheap operating a car like this.
