Scholz and the Extremists

I sat and watched a few minutes of news this AM off N-24 (commercial TV news network).  Topic?  The new incoming Chancellor (SPD's Scholz) wants to have a face-to-face meeting with the 'Greta-kids' (youth climate activists).

In simple terms, he doesn't want the youth activists crapping all over the new coalition government.

The youth environmental activists?  They are firmly entrenched to the idea that few if any of their priorities will be signed off by the SPD-Green- FDP government.  Yes, these ideas are a bit extreme, and probably would have triggered a massive economic crisis (even more so than what we face currently).

All of this leading to more confrontations, public demonstrations, and a bunch of angry kids appearing nightly on public TV news?  Yeah....more or less.

Maybe this was captivating and of some interest when the Fridays-for-the-Future deal started three years ago, but I'd go and suggest that a fair number of German adults have reviewed their theme/message/brand, and now come away amused over this youth trend.  The recent stumble toward anti-capitalism by the youth activists....instead of climate change?  That's apparently noticeable, and probably triggered even more adults to step back and ask what's going on here.

So.....expect some face-to-face meeting to occur, with Scholz trying his best to avoid criticism over the group.  There will be no shared vision in the end.
