Three German News Stories

 1.  I noticed off Focus this AM.....a brief update over conventional heaters sold by hardware stores.

Since the invasion of Ukraine, there's been around 600,000 conventional heaters sold.

There's a fairly strong hint that the grid system can't support a massive use of conventional heaters being added....if natural gas furnaces are limited in use.

2.  There are two alternate plans being suggested to replace the August monthly Bahn ticket (9-Euro for the entire month).  One ticket is the 365 Euro per year ticket.....one is the 29-to-69 Euro monthly ticket.

What's currently going on?  A long discussion by the federal government and the sixteen state governments.  No one really believes either ticket will cover all costs, and some type of federal government subsidy will have to occur.

Personally?  I have zero interest in a full-year's ticket and for monthly tickets....I might only have six months of the year to go traveling around (obviously zero interest for January, February, and March).  I think most people feel that way.

3.  Over the weekend, there was chatter by the Bavarian PM (Soder) about Bavaria-bashing....by the federal folks and some state politicians.

Any truth to the matter?  I think most Bavarians would have stood up throughout the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, etc.....to say monthly bashing was common.  It's nothing new.

Social media takes this to a new level, and it aggravates people more to read it in print or feel insulted.
