I pondered this idea.
First, from October on, there's no real melt because of the temperature drop. Springs keep the river 'going'.
Second, if you were using this logic, virtually all rivers would go away.
BS? I'd have to hear a lot more to believe these guys.
Course, me being optimistic, I'd look at this and say it'd be great to pave 20 roads across the Rhine between Mainz and Wiesbaden....ending all this bridge chaos.
