Green Chatter

There's a piece in ZEIT this AM which discusses the topic of German Green Party, and how they are trending without much success, for months now.

Over the past decade, the Greens took a fair amount of SPD votes, so they have gotten public attention in selling their ideas.

Why the negative trending?  I would give 4 reasons:

1.  The SPD gave them roles to fill in the coalition,  and they fell short in getting the message across.

2.  The Ukraine-Russia War put them in a crappy position,  especially with natural gas and oil heating.  Toss in the heat pump agena.

3. Unlike a decade ago, Germans seem to ask a lot of questions and aren't as easily manipulated.

4.  There seems to be 2 factions of Greens today.  And one seems to be to the left.

Well, to be completely fair, had they been listened to 25-30 years ago Putin wouldn't have had any leverage with Gas and Oil to begin with.

You'd have go to the 1960s when coal, oil and natural gas deals were made. A lot of hyped green agenda....pushing wind and solar...needed a back-up, and the cheap natural gas deal played right into the environmental plan.
