About an hour ago....at the Bundestag opening, Scholz gave his speech, and said two things over the Palestine/Israel war.
First, pretty blunt words on Iran, and their involvement. (More than the usual criticism)
Second, there's going to be a ban on support to Hamas or Hamas-related charity. To be honest....I doubt if any German public/government funding was going to Hamas itself. Maybe some charity fund exists....connected to Hamas....which might be frozen at this point.
Hype in the public sector? There's a fair amount of Arab/Turk support for the Palestine position, and the Germans are trying to 'tone-it' down. With most Germans? I'd say reaction is pretty negative on the surprise attack, and indiscriminate killing. I'm not saying everyone is pro-Israel but most consider it pretty shocking. It's taken over the public forum chatter, and will continue for at least several weeks.
