Trucker Taxes Going Up

Well...about 20 years ago in Germany, this idea of maut came up.   You'd install a bunch of sensors on the autobahn and trucks crossing each one,  there would be a tax.

So the SPD coalition has said now....let's increase the maut, and go beyond the autobahn....meaning secondary roads and streets.

So logically,  you'd ask if goods will go up in price?  OH YEAH.

Between my village and Wiesbaden?  About 5 km?  I'd guess and say 2 sensors minimum would be added, and in the 4,000 resident village with 3 exits...there would probably be 3 more sensors for trucks.

Public acceptance?   It's going to be pure mess to sell this technology leap and taxation gimmick to the public.

If I just ordered new furniture for the living room from some Mainz store, there's likely to be 25 euro in road tax to get from the store, to my house and recover the truck back to the store.
