Three German News Stories

 1.  INSA completed a German survey about feelings for the current SPD-coalition.  So a majority now (more than 50-percent) want two things.....a new federal election and SPD's Faeser (the Interior Minister) out.

Odds of a new election?  Near zero.  You'd have to have either the FDP or Greens declare the coalition in chaos and sign something to dismantle the SPD government.

This being a bad sign for future elections (like in 2024)?  OH YEAH.....there has to be a number of SPD voters grumbling about Scholz and the current spiral.

If there was a new federal election?  The SPD probably will not be able to achieve better than 4th place....meaning an absolute CDU-CSU win, and the AfD near 2nd place (Greens in 3rd).  It's possible that the FDP might not even be able to achieve 5-percent.

I should add this footnote....also on this majority survey feeling....a majority now want some resolution to migration/refugees in Germany.  As for what?  That's a unknown.

2.  EU still continuing payments to Palestine?  Yeah.....they admitted this over the weekend.  It will put a fair amount of pressure on them.

3.  With the numbers achieved in the Hessen state election....AfD (the far-right party) has some 'right' within the state legislature....to ask for investigative committees.  So it comes to a shock to some folks.....they are asking for a Covid-19 investigative committee.  What'll come out of this?  Unknown.  Not a federal thing?  Correct....just a state committee.
