Covid-Fraud?

There's a court-case unfolding today in Germany, with an odd twist.  The location of the case?  Munich.  Lot of different news groups chatting over this episode.

So, back in the spring of 2020....the German government created a pot of money for Covid-aid, for business operations.  This 31-year-old guy from the state of NRW looked over the applications, and figured....they aren't really paying attention.  So he filed application after application.  All were fakes.

The amount that the government says he attempted to go after?  2.5-million Euro.

I looked over the overview.  What gets me is the number of applications....90-plus of them.  These are multiple page applications.  Most business folks would have gazed at one single application, and probably hired financial wiz to fill the thing out.  It would not surprise me if he spent an entire month working on the 90-odd applications.

Now?  Well....if convicted?  Generally....five years is what you get....but in serious cases, it goes up to ten.  I'm guessing he'll have time to analyze his mistakes.
