I sat last night and watched a new news-format show on Pro-7 (commercial German TV). Name of the show is Zervakis & Opdenhövel. I have to admit, it's a fairly clever format....digging into various trendy topics, and they dig out the landscape of various issues.
So they picked up what I would call the 'better-life' syndrome. A lot of Germans hype things you can do to save the Earth and mankind....living a certain way.
So the Zervakis and Opdenhövel got a team to follow this one family (father, mother, 5 kids) for a month, as they tried to live an authentic better life.
This meant living with less meat in the diet, less use of the family car (riding the bus whenever possible), dumping products with extensive packing, washing clothing in a certain way, etc.
So the experiment ends and here's two members of the family on the live show. End-result? Based on commentary....a couple of the changes might stick (less meat for example).....but it sounded like 75-percent of the 'living-better' deal was crap and they won't adapt to the lifestyle.
It's an odd trend that you see almost daily on public TV in Germany, where you are enticed to 'live-better'.
