Bridge Story

Our local 'crapped-up' bridge (Salzbachtal) finally got blown up today.  It's a major 'valley' bridge (crossing no river or stream).  A sudden discovery suggesting impending failure....lead to a five-month review and then the destruction plan.

So today, the explosion was planned, and our public TV network (HR)....started a 2.5-hour coverage deal.

Yes, this all started at 10 AM, with dozens of interviews.  They talked to people who lived next to the bridge....people who used to cross the bridge daily....people who rode the train under the bridge....kids who biked on the paths under it.....people who walked dogs near the bridge....and even people who never crossed it in their life.

Here's the thing....no commercials....it's public TV.

I flipped to it for a minute or two....then flipped to another network.....then back.  It was a solid two hours with no real content.  Even when it was finally blown....they still had around 25 additional minutes of 'talking'.

A demonstration that we really don't have 'big' news in Hessen?  Well....yeah.
