Turning Covid Analysis Into an Intelligence Tool

Throughout all of last year (2020), as Covid came into German society, I kept waiting for someone to use normal intelligence tools....taking data from local clinics and health departments...to build a map to show neighborhoods as 'gainers' or 'losers'.  Nothing ever appeared on the scene though.

This morning, if you pull up N-24 or Welt....they bring up the topic of Bonn (the former capital of Germany) and how some smart guys finally took available infection data....applying it to a map....showing neighborhoods on the 'gain' or 'lessening' from Covid infection.

They say, with the data mapping.....they can drill down to each street and advise a health department where serious up-ticks are going on.

The likely nature that the program will move to other German cities?  Guaranteed.

Likely to upset some people?  Well....if you think about it....you might see a map of your city (283k in population) and discover that the bulk of cases over the past month....go to only three neighborhoods (out of 26).  Politicians will then start to ask stupid questions....why these three bulk up while the levels at the other 23 neighborhoods are marginal.  It might not be something you want to engage upon or discuss in the open.
