Right now....the schedule is being written, and it appears that a vote will occur on Wednesday of next week (8th) in the Bundestag, to bring the new SPD-Green-FDP coalition government into place. All ministers...at that point, will have been selected.
General gut feeling? Three observations:
1. This is probably the weakest government since 1949 to exist, with the SPD having won only 25.7-percent of the national vote in the September election.
2. Most people generally believe that the Greens gave up a lot on promises to be part of this coalition. There's a lot of talk by the more revolutionary types, and the 'Greta-kids'....that 2022 will see demonstrations trying to force positions upon the government.
3. Finally, there is a happy feeling in seeing the Merkel era come to a close. Some might argue....for every success within the years of Merkel....there were a failure. So there is some appreciation for Scholz....at least for the first year.
