This morning, out of Thuringia (the state over the east of Germany)....there's hype being pushed by the state FDP Party....to bring back the 'free' Covid tests....for EVERYONE (vax-people and non-vax-people).
What the politicians are saying....maybe there were honest intentions of forcing people to get vaccinated and only offering testing for vax-people seemed logical. But now with serious numbers bumping up and vax-people getting Covid....it's time to admit testing has to come back.
What might happen here? I would suggest November will be heavily discussed as the numbers go up. In Hamburg presently, the infection rate is 164 per 100k residents (hefty number). By the end of November, I expect a minimum of five German states (out of the sixteen) to hype up free-testing across the board (for everyone). Some deal will be openly discussed....maybe people have to pay part of the fee, but by mid-December....I kinda expect testing to be accepted once again.
Hefty cost factor? Yeah, and it's not going to be a pleasant experience for the finance-tax revenue people to find the extra cash.
