Today (Saturday), there's a 'warning' given by the local police over the idea of you might be wanting to shop downtown in Wiesbaden.
There are two protests organized and granted 'permission' for the mid-day period.
The first is a anti-Covid ban-rule group.....the second is a pro-Covid ban-rule group.
You can laugh, but this is how things have developed as you come near the end of the two-year period.
Between the two group.....cops say a total of 600 people might be in the demonstrations (5 to 1, on the anti-Covid ban-rule group).
Police getting heavily involved? The only thing they've said....if you come near the downtown area where masks are mandated.....you will be halted and warned to wear a mask.....failure then would mean you get detained and ticketed.
Does any of this really change public views? On demonstrating.....I doubt it. But the more you see the German 'Doctor Doom' type characters on TV.....the more questions that pop up.
Working-class Germans will be blunt and note that they all know people who've had serious Covid and survived, or died. But they will all tell you that the nation can't go on like this, with the serious ban-rule business.
I would also make the remark that in the past six months.....we are probably up to around half the adult population asking stupid questions, and no longer very positive over the ban rules. It's hurt commerce....damaged kid's education....destroyed business models, and made planning for things like marriages or vacations practically impossible.
The weather dampening the demonstrations? Well, it is a typical Feb day....drizzle expected most of the morning, and just two or three degrees above freezing.
