Germany News

 1.  I was sitting and watching the late news last night....chatter over the 9-Euro Bahn ticket deal.  So it seems that a bunch of people started on Friday on various trips across Germany, and the railway system was stacked-up with issues.

Then came this problem in Sylt (the German island up north).  It seems that a bunch of 'punks' (actual heavy-drinking, heavy-partying punks) arrived in Sylt for what they call 'chaostag' (mostly to party, drink and maybe consume some cannabis).  Locals?  Well...they are a bit pepped-up and complaining about this situation.  Wouldn't surprise me if the 'punks' go off every weekend for chaos somewhere in Germany.

2.  Kinda funny....for a hundred days....there's been around 200 Russian tourists stranded in Sri Lanka.  Around 3 days ago....a Russian Aeroflot plane flew in and was supposed to pick up the folks.  The plane was halted, and is apparently under seizure orders.

Deal?  Apparently, there's an Irish company with numerous jets being held in Russia (under a lease deal).  The company somehow figured out about the jet landing and had a judges order on the seizure.

So the crew (figure around a dozen) and the 200-odd stuck Russians.....will continue to be stuck.  Eventually, you can figure that some Russian freighter will stop off....pick up everyone, and bring them 'home' by boat.

3.  There's a new rent 'cap' idea being floated around in Berlin (the city itself, not the fed folks).

The mayor of Berlin (SPD Party).....suggested that a cap be put up....where you would not pay more than 30-percent of your income (thus having no relationship to the property or what your neighbors make).

Lot of chatter over this ('crazy-talk' has come up once or twice).

4.  I noticed a piece off SW (sub-public TV network from SW Germany).  Topic?  There's a waiting list now for juveniles in the Baden-Wurttemberg region to get mental health help.

Part of this is limited facilities/staff to start with.....part of it revolves around the Corona period.

There's waiting lists now because the system wasn't developed to handle this much flow of people in crisis.

5.  Rock am Ring fest going on as planned?  Yeah, tens of thousands for the weekend concert event.  However, it's pretty serious rain/lightning action for the whole region around the fest.  Might be ending early.
