Soccer Chatter

It's been a week since the Champion League final game in Paris, and the chatter now is about this massive investigation that has to take place.

I won't go into a lot of details over this, but the game (held in Paris) was a four-star '*uck-Up'.

UEFA (the organization that runs the league)....says there's got to be compensation for ticket-holding fans, and France itself is the one who ought to pay.

What generally occurred?  Lot of physical action and insults.....outside of the stadium.  Fights occurred.  230 folks injured, with at least a hundred arrested by the Paris cops.

Tear gas had to be used at one point, and the game was delayed by a minimum of 30 minutes.

Fans who held true and valid tickets....denied entry?  Yeah, there's a fair amount of that chatter going on as well.

There's also accusations of various fans being robbed while they waited for entry into the stadium.

In some ways....I don't think the Paris security/police folks were prepared for the crowd or the problems that occurred.

On the compensation angle?  It could take a full-year to assemble some 700-page report, and my humble guess is that if you held a 75-Euro ticket....you probably will be 'offered' around 300 Euro in compensation from the French government.  If you didn't get entry?  Well....they'd probably at least offer you your 75 Euro back.

Worth all the hassle?  No.  I'd never go to any championship game after watching this security fiasco.
