Germany: The 'Fake' Democracy?

 Well...this is an odd story which came up via N-TV this afternoon.

A survey was done.....commissioned by SWR (SW Germany public TV).  The question asked....do you believe (as a German) that we are in the midst of a 'sham democracy'?

I laughed over the wording, and sat there wondering what the intent by the public TV service was.

Results?  Yes....31-percent of Germans agree.....things are a 'sham' or fake democracy.

Out of the whole group.....28-percent said something has to change.  One out of three Germans said something that the effect that the present system has to change.

What triggered the question?  We had this plain simple gas station murder about eight months ago in Idar-Oberstein.  Guy walks into the station....no Covid mask on....clerk gives him the hint that he must mask up....harsh conversation occurs with the guy....eventually, the customer pulls out a pistol and shoots the young clerk dead.

More to the story?  Well....customer had several personal things going on and I don't think (based on various stories) he was functioning in a logical way.  I might even ask if he was medicated in some way or doped-up as he did the shooting.

But in the minds of the news media....there's talk that the guy was right-wing, and that the right-wing is currently endangering the whole of Germany.

Using the poll to drive some journalistic agenda?  Well....it's just odd how they worded this, and it seems to be begging for a certain group to react. 

The problem here.....even if asked forty left-wing German folks (not charged-up on Covid).....is the current government of Germany a 'sham' or fake.....I'm of the mind that at least five of the forty would readily agree.  It's not a left-wing or right-wing thing....it's just that people have a evolving mindset.

About two years ago....someone brought up that it now seems every week or two....public news in Germany digs up another emergency or chaos....that requires some government intervention, or 'Deutsch-Marvel-squad' to rescue the public, or create a billion-Euro fund out of thin air to pay for fixing things.

Around the clock now.....you get public forum 'X' with these talking 'heads' who spend an hour talking this 'crap' that has unfolded, with the answer always seeming to fall back to 'Super-Merkel' or 'Super-Scholz' to save the day.  

In this question with the 'fake' democracy chatter.....the fix?

It wouldn't surprise me the public news folks decided that a massive propaganda campaign was required....to convince everyone that nothing was a 'sham' or fake. 

Yes, you people with the poorly conceived idea of a 'sham' democracy.....you need to just get a few beers.....think logically, and realize that things are working just fine.  

Sadly, shortly after that occurs.....some other survey will be necessary....to find the next thing to worry about....that public TV news seems to be a 'sham'.
