Focus wrote up a piece today and discussed Germany and the natural gas crisis (too much reliance upon Russia).
So, here's the observations they make:
1. The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) went and reviewed the landscape.
2. DIW says that a floating terminal could be procured, and LNG ships could already off-load at some port of Germany.
3. DIW says that between 18 and 26 percent of current natural gas usage.....could be cut by private home consumers. An example.....cutting the interior temperature in the day-time. Another example is water-heating for baths.
I noted here....our 'big' hot-water heater in the house....for three apartments....has a setting currently for hot-bathwater at 6 AM and 6 PM (an hour each).....which heats up a fair amount of water for the whole building (5 residents). That could be cut to one single period and would probably save five-percent easily.
4. More LNG from the Netherlands and Norway? That was also suggested.
There's no doubt that a 'cut' is coming and Germans will have to adapt to a lesser situation of natural gas for the end of 2022.
